Masterpieces

I have decided to begin a series of paintings that will be copies of masterpieces by artists like Monet, VanGogh, Beirstadt and Moran. I am going to embark on this project as a way to learn from these masters, but mostly because I love their work and I want to know what it feels like to paint like them. There is a long established tradition of doing this as a method of training painters, although it takes place more in Europe than it does here.

After taking much time off from blogging to focus on a number of art projects, I am resuming this blog, with the following focus:

This is to be a resource for all those interested in the intersection between art and video, with a strong emphasis on painting. I will be posting painting videos of all kinds; some will be quite experimental, others will be much more straightforward, like time lapse films of paintings.

If you are interested in contributing to this forum with your own painting video, simply email me with your submission. Not all submissions will be accepted. Criteria will include: skill in painting, originality, suitability of subject matter, etc.

My goal for this blog is to create a space for gifted painters who are also interested in video to display their work and get some exposure. If we all work together to get this blog linked in with multiple web sites, we can build something that helps us all get the attention we want.
